Sept. 4, 2019

Day one flew by so quickly, I didn't have time to make the blog! So.....day two!
Happy to say that everyone is beginning to settle back in to routine, after a nice break from school. Today we created the September calendar in visual journals. This is a great activity that integrates measuring, some calculating and using a ruler correctly. We added in the important dates that matter to the class. This is something that we will do every month so that students have an idea of what is coming up in the month. For example, this month there are school photos and special snack. All the information is from the school calendar that is emailed out.

Also in the morning the class worked on writing a little about themselves. Students had to answer 5 questions in complete sentences that told something about them. Some examples were, what are you looking forward to this year? What do you love about learning? What is something that you want your teacher or classmates to know about you?

The class read the book ISH by Peter Reynolds and then discussed what the main message was. Some great messages were shared. You don't have to be perfect to try. You don't have to listen to what others think about your work all the time. Never give up, keep trying.  Today was our first gym day with Ms. Kara. To end the day we worked on an art project that will cover the front of the visual journal.

I hope you had a great beginning to the school year!

Reminders:

- please return all the forms from the first day
- Friday is a half day as usual
